Golo brdo (Naked Hill)

During the Homeland War two soldiers from Brač, Nikša Dragičević and Luka Martinić, were killed at this anti-aircraft position, while three others were heavily wounded shortly after the enemy jet fighter “Galeb” was shot down from the sky. The place of their death is nowadays a memorial park with a commemorative plaque to both fallen soldiers. On November 17th each year there is a memorial to all Brač war veterans. A depiction of events from the battlefield in Brač channel where the aggressor army had finally been driven out of is displayed on the plaques on the path leading to the memorial. A stone statue “Kameni vitez” (Stone Knight) made by a sculptor from Brač Lovre Jakšić adorns the memorial park. All of the Golo brdo area is the highest point of the Sutivan municipality providing a beautiful view of the land as well as the islands of Hvar,Vis, St Andrija and when the weather is favourable, volcanic islets Brusnik and Jabuka.
